Young Voices Funding
This year saw the conclusion of our Young Voices Programme. The funding programme was launched in 2018/19, as part of the Foundation’s commitment to combat issues of sexual exploitation by placing young people at the centre of the design, decision-making and delivery of work in this field. An open funding call resulted in six organisations being awarded a total of £1,286,690 over three-years.
The six organisations funded were:
- NSPCC
- Abianda
- Reach
- Donnington Doorstep
- Association for Young People’s Health (AYPH)
- University of Bedfordshire – Safer Young Lives Research Centre
Each organisation was offered a grant based on their commitment to a embedding young voices within their service, supporting young people to play a legitimate role in the design, delivery and review of their work.
Young Voices Update
On the 21st November we were delighted to be a part of the Young Voices Share the Learning Event.
Led by grantholders, the Association for Young People’s Health (AYPH), and in collaboration with the Young Voices portfolio of projects, the event aimed to share and inform participation practice across the sector of those working with children and young people and adults with learning disabilities.
During the event we heard key messages from the organisations and directly from people involved in the work. Attendees took part in discussion during the event to consider how learning can inform participation practice across their sectors with a specific focus on involving people affected by trauma.
We were pleased to bring together key stakeholders and decision makers from policy, academia, the third sector and beyond. And even more pleased that attendees had the following to say;
‘It was a great opportunity for all of the grantee’s to reflect on the wonderful work achieved because of the Young Voices funding’
‘It was good to hear many important reflections and insights into Participation from all of those in attendance’
We’re pleased to share this briefing paper which summaries the results of our programme, and considers how to take these forward in the sector as a whole.
