Labour Climate and Environment Forum

In 2025–26, LCEF delivered a programme of political engagement focused on making the case for nature as a foundation for sustainable growth and investment. This included MP briefings, parliamentary roundtables and a parliamentary reception sponsored by Aviva that focussed on the role of the private sector in nature’s recovery. LCEF delivered Labour Party Conference events on nature and farming attended by Defra Ministers Angela Eagle and Mary Creagh and Defra Secretary of State Emma Reynolds.

LCEF also produced political briefings, media interventions and stakeholder engagement on issues including planning reform, water resilience and the Land Use Framework, helping to strengthen understanding within the Labour movement that nature and economic growth should go hand in hand.

We used the funding from the Samworth Foundation to create and grow the Nature and Land Use Programme, building key relationships and convening stakeholders around strategically important issues. LCEF are now highly respected in the agriculture, nature and land use space, and have a good platform to build from to deepen our political advocacy.
